Affairs:
A Guide to Working Through
the Repercussions of Infidelity
by Emily M. Brown
I think this is one of the best books I've seen on this subject. (I guess it's natural I'd be so enthusiastic about it - because it focuses on most of the same points I make in "The Monogamy Myth.")
Emily is a therapist who has worked with this issue for many years. Previously, she had written a book for other therapists (based primarily on helping them identify the various "types" of affairs). However, this is her first book written specifically for the public.
In this book she begins by again focusing on types of affairs, which is the least helpful part of the book in my opinion. However, once she gets beyond that beginning, the rest of the book is quite wonderful.
One particular benefit of this particular book is that it addresses issues for both the person who had an affair and the spouse in dealing with the ramifications. While other books have addressed both parties, this one does an excellent job of integrating the key messages for both parties rather than dealing with them in a more separate way.
