"Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life"
by Peggy Vaughan

The beginning of a new year offers an opportunity to get a "fresh start" on life. But, of course, every day is the "first day of the rest of our lives"—providing an ongoing opportunity for a "new beginning."

So instead of making New Year's Resolutions, we might better try resolving anew each day to move more and more toward the kind of life we want to live.

Another familiar quote that also expresses this sentiment is: "Life is a Journey, Not a Destination." Unless we learn to find satisfaction "in the process" of living our lives (not just pursuing our goals), we may forever feel unfulfilled.

So I'd like to encourage you to live each day to the fullest. This does not mean "living it up" or being irresponsible; it simply means living with full awareness of what's important and how fragile life can be.
